Video Cabling
Video by nature is a resource/bandwidth hungry beast. So, particular attention must be paid to the choice of cabling used. The transmission of video signals within a building are typically done over; Coaxial, CAT5, CAT6, Fiber Optics and although not recommended Wireless. Cables such as Coaxial, CAT5 and 6 are usually made of a combination of metals (Bimetallics) such as bonding a layer of copper to either a core of steel or a core of aluminum. With the advent of more and more information/Data being squeezed through metal cables, copper has reached it’s limitations. However, Fiber Optics offer a viable and seemingly endless bandwidth potential hence, all the major communication providers (At&t, Verizon and others) are trying to upgrade their infrastructure to accommodate growing demands.
